Does anyone know of a paint that you can get at the hobbystore which is a non-conductive paint?

As far as I know few paints are conductive in any real sense, although almost anything will conduct to some extent if you put a high enough voltage on it.

If you want it to conduct you usually have to buy special stuff which is horribly expensive for a small amount :( , probably because it is laced with silver to make it 'metallic'.

I was recently installing a decoder, etc, in a loco that had the inside of the body factory painted 'silver'. Just to be sure I used a meter to confirm it was not conductive [IMG]

If you want a really non-cunductive paint, go to a RC model shop and ask for the paint used to paint the fast cars. I don't know what it is called but it is as close to a rubber/flexible paint that I have seen. Same paint is good to paint grab irons so that after handling, the paint does not chip or break.
