Here's my take on that thread:

Sorry, they were way down the track and I had no opportunity for a better shot, so I had to take what I could. I don't see that many UP units around here.

Nice to see someone can still get excited about UP locos. It's getting to the point around here where you have to go all the way to Chicago to find anything NOT BNSF or UP! Around here a CSX or especially NS unit is both a rarity and cause for a flurry of emails. IC and KCS power is enough to make our heads spin! Maybe what we need is a Railfan exchange program. If anyone wants ro come over and see UP and BNSF I'd be happy to put you up and give you the grand tour.

Same thing here in Johnstown, CSX is all over the place, not too much of anything besides a few Conrail trains running around or through.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Couple of years ago I loaded my bike on the train and went to Albany NY to see Conrail before it was merged out of existance. Long, difficut trip, but ultimatly worthwhile. It was wonderful to finally see some new power after all those SD40-2s and C44-9Ws!

I can add to this as well.... All I EVER SEE is CSX. Nothing else or well a few leased units or Some sparingly Conrail units and all.. Nothing of class one history such as western or mid western history... So. To see these. I come to trainboard were anyone in railroading, modeling or the real thing is! Then I get my feel of a variety... :D Wether its steam or diesel... Preferably steam!
