Hi all, could use some help coming up with a viable plan for my industrial trackage in a modern paper mill in the third section of my first little layout.

    I started with this:

I was pretty proud of it and about to pull the trigger on all those #4s I would need when I got cold feet. I became unhappy with the number of switchbacks, and the mainline only having the creek in the fore-stage. I thought the main and creek running through the mill complex would be more visually interesting, and maybe make running it through the backdrop on the left side a bit easier to conceal.

Then that nagging reality thing kicked in. I'm not having any success placing the mill yard north or south of the creek, let alone getting to the various parts of the plant without a bunch of switchbacks, or crowding the main when trying to make switch moves in my head. Even though I'm portraying a fictitious regional line, I would like to run a cleared main as much as possible in case my better half would like to become my second operator (I've already got her hooked on making trees for which I don't have a layout to put them on!)

So here is where I am right now:

Someone with a little (or a lot) more experience than me, please help me re-kickstart the creative juices or be frank and tell me it just ain't gonna happen. I'm starting to not enjoy running the Unballasted Unitrack & Pink Foam Central Loop as I used to, if you get my meaning.

    Thanks in advance!
