Here's the Bachmann three truck shay rounding the bend and pushing cars up grade, heading for Pinetop.

    Paul,
As always GREAT WORK! However I do have a slight question and request.... The question is what type or make are your log cars in that picture??? And now the request, Can you by any chance take a good close up picture of a few differently rusted up trucks for me? I want to look at how you did the rusted look on them so I can do mine up. Alot has told me to paint the whole truck and wheel face with "rust" colored paint but I know that the whole thing wouldn't be all solid rust I'd like to see an example of this and who better to ask? But yourself? I want to weather my trucks and wheels to get rid of the factory machine plastic shine... I don't weather a whole are... Just the trucks and wheels.... Being if you seen new cars right out of the facotry the real ones they come out with rusted up "new" trucks and wheels thats set outside for a period of time... See where i'm coming from now??? Anyone that has pictures they could help me with is welcome too. Paul was merrly the first to come to mind.. :D

    Hi John,
My Skeleton cars are from (MDC Roundhouse) and most of my weathering has been done using chalks and water, but the Tank car was done using Instant Rust available from http://www.modernoptions.com/html/products/rustpat.html
This product is a two-part solution and is amazing at what it can do.

Paul, you must be sadistic in a way, every time I see a new picture of yours I simply drool. Love those pics, and the work is out of this world.

I've got a question; In the pic of the three truck shay pushing flat cars, in the upper right is a building with a logging truck beside it. What is the real distance to it from the foreground rails? I'm trying to see about perspective on my layout. You've made it look 100 yards off, but I know you are in an 11X14 room!!!

    Thanks Lynn and others,
That depot is 3'-6" in from the bridge and 1'-4" higher.

    Paul,
Thanks for the pictures! I want to do some rusting up on my truck frames and wheels and yours... Well have to be almost metal to be rusted up like you have them! Very good modeling work I must say! Very realistic looking.. :D THANKS again!.... I do however plan to use the rust colored paint to do mine, with alittle dry brushing of flat black, and some grays (different shades of gray). I also may as far and go to the extent of using a tool I bought and only used it sparingly.. Its like an air brush (powered like one anyway) and is like a sand blaster but it blasts glass beeds. I'm going to try my hand at representing rust pits in the trucks to aid in the weathering... So... I want to see if and how that will look and how good i can do it without over doing it..... :D Nice work though!
