I'm resigning from this forum because I'm sick and tired of getting PMS of members complaining and yelling at me for calling members by there usernames and not there real names. For instance MINZ sent me a PM saying i get up everyone sleeves for calling him Minz and not GERD. Like come on guys are you serious? I don't ask anyone for there names nor do I care about your private information. If I can't call people by there usernames than im out. thats all I know of, seeing every forum im on everyone calls each other by there user names. It seems some of you are to old school and to close for my liking right now. So take care and thanks for those of you who really helped me with my progress and didn't care if I called them by there username name and not there real freaking name. ex.. iv been calling pray, pray for ever and he dosnt seem to spaz out about it. later
Well, I thought Communism was hard, but need to realize, Trainboard became the new standard for misery. Sorry, we'll miss you. Really...
Matt, dont give up. I though you were doing well in your projects, and stay with your z even if you are taking a break from he board Come back when you are ready.
Conrail, Dude, you must be beyond that. Seriously, everyone is sensitive in different ways and it is everywhere you go, you cant quit because of that. I hope you can work around that. From what I know of the folks here they are all very nice, I am not sure why everyone has become so sensitive. Kim
I have always used usernames, unless sending a PM message. It is not MANDATORY but, it is your choice how you wish to address them. You should tell those who confront you to back off and mind their own business. Those who have been on the other end of this, you should allow others to address you the way they feel comfortable with, your preferences are not gospel. Leave the guy alone for cryin out loud. fatalxsunrider43
How does one person, MINZ ???, take on the preferences of everyone ? Everyone that you get up their sleeves ? Goodness, people need to be a little easier going, dont take things so seriously, on both sides. We should all have numbers we go by...LOL ! I say stay, dont run away. Continue to call others however you see fit. as long as it is clean, dont leave, stay and be strong. fatalxsunrider43
I want to say something about usernames. If you did not want to be replied to by your Trainboard username in full or in part, maybe you choose the wrong username? Think about it, If you choose the username Goober Pyle, and people reply to you as "Hey Goob?" is it really their fault? If you are not a goober and are not a pyle, they why did you make your username such? We are all here to talk about trains, not snap at one another about names, especially your very own choice of name. I don't like to see any Z Scalers turned away or made to not feel like part of the community, as we are all Z Scalers and enthusastic about our hobby. Let's just all post nice from now on and stop picking at each other ok?
Folks- Calling someone by their User Name, or what could be termed a nickname version, is hardly worthy of becoming upset toward another member. The other day, it was because of saying "tin" instead of "tin1197." People vary my User Name all the time- As "Box", "Boxy", "Boxcab", "Boxcar" and "E50." No problem as long as we all know who is being addressed. It's just others being informal. I would believe everyone could relax just a bit. This is not something worthy of being snappy, or worse, toward other members. Boxcab E50 A TrainBoard Administrator
Reconsider your position there are other things worthy of doing battle over. Trust me this isn't one of them. I like being called by my nick. I've been called worse...hahaha.
Yeah ! I was going to say, I have kindly replied to BoxCab as "Box" and there was no uproar about anything going up anyones sleeve. I think the comment about, the username is one that we all chose for ourselves, so why would it bother the user to be called by his chosen username. That has to be about the most childess things Ive ever heard. BNSF, I would not run away, I'd stay and just be YOU. fatalxsunrider43
I think your already putting it passed you, your sense of humor is still alive and well, that means your strong enough to stay. I'd say "Go ahead and let them give you their best shot son, aint nothin that can confront you ! " I vote for STAY !!! fatalxsunrider43
If some prefer to be called by their real name then that is fine.......if you don't like to be called by your user name then just notify the guilty party nicely and ask them to use your preferred.... You will notice I use my real name.....born with it, can't change it, don't mind it, and often respond to it..........but just don't ever, no not even once ever.......call me 'late for dinner'. Haven't had breakfast yet and it is almost 2pm in Oregon Loren....really !! )
I would think that there are many more things that deserve our getting upset about but this sure isn't it. Unless the name was disrespectful, I don't see the point. And sure don't let something like this drive you away. :tb-wink:
MrConrail&BNSF It has been already said before, but I'm going to say it again. Call me Maxairedale, or Max, or Gary, or anything but late for dinner. LOL. Not everyone gives out their real name in their postings or their personal info. Furthermore if someone has not used their real name for their screen name they should expect to be called by the screen name or even a part of it. Don't go because of something that is not your fault. Gary
Late For Dinner is right, if you don't want to use your real name. My user name is my last name. You don't see my first name anywhere on this board.
I have been called THE LAST, "something that broke the camel's back" and many other things. Someone even thought the "r_i" in my screen name was for Rock Island. Hmm...I kind of like that.
I am new to Trainboard and am starting in N scale (I know, bannish me now....) but I do hit the Z page from time to time. When I read this I was a bit surprised in that most of the time all I see on postings IS the username, unless a salutation and real name are included. If someone says "Hi, I'm Tom, or Rex or BNSF", then that's how I will address you. If you want me to do otherwise just say so. The problem with written word is the reader puts their emotion into it and doesn't necessarily interpret the sender's emotion. If a reader is ticked about something they may in turn get ticked about something orginally written in a totally different manner.
Matt, Stay with us ! Don't give up something you enjoy. Sharing is everything. Youv'e got friends! Sit back and open up a late-picked bottle of Chianti. Better yet, stop down here for dinner. Uncle Guido will cook you the best Italian dinner you ever had. Youv'e come along way baby. Many of us have taken years to get were you are. Best, Donna
