I will be offering photo-etched BethGon kits in two to three weeks. First run will be 200 kits, with more based on demand. They will have detailed bolster sills, internal braces, and even rivet detail. Simply solder the four sides together, add details, epoxy the cast resin bottom tubs/centersill detail in place, add MTL 956 trucks, and you have a excellent replica ready for the paintshop. The retail price will be less than $25.00. I may offer assembled, painted/decaled, RTR models. Next projects are PS-2 4750 Covered hoppers, 89' Enclosed Autoracks (Not intended for suitcase layouts, sorry) and many others.
Wow Z scale is really coming on in leaps and bounds. Look forward to seeing pics of the finished products.
Thanks Alan! I just signed and faxed the order/quote for the photo tool and first run of 200 parts! I should see parts in just over a week! I went over the design numerous times in 2D Cad, 3D Cad models, and paper, but I am still nervous about how they will turn out.
I don't know what happened to Eric. I have emailed him, but have not heard a reply yet. I hope everything is alright, and he just got "Railroaded" into something else. -Robert
I was really looking forward to these I have the feeling he'll come back soon and tell us what happened.
Good question. The timing may have been wrong. At the time he was planning the cars, FR already had their etched coal porters on the market. http://www.fr-model.de/index.php?lang=en&what=products&cat=us Since then, AZL has announced their line of injection coal porters. By the way, AZL's coal porters are now scheduled to be released around March. They want these to come out close to the release of the SD70s. Rob Kluz
