I want to etch ideas I have left and right, but right now time is just not allowing me to do so. Working full time and going to school full time really puts a plug in the modeling every once and a while :-( That along with the many other projects I want to do like kitbash a MP36PH and paint it along with 3-4 bombardier cars to the CalTrain scheme.

Hopefully within the next month or two I'll have a full scale scaffold system perfected though.

Well, I am only just starting to play with trains (am interested in 2mm stuff)

But I have built a spray etcher.

The board wont let me post a link for 3 days. So Just google "The Etchinator" (I will come back and edit a direct link in when I am allowed)

My primary target for the etcher is PCBs but I have done a fair bit of brass etching.

Now I want to get a bit more into the tracks, rails and ladders kind of stuff.

Yep - that would be the one. The anti-spamming system wouldn't let me post a link as a new member. I guess that is necessary evil to thwart the spamming robots.

Dunno if you're still around ... but I imagine that using the RED lightbulbs (like used in photo darkrooms) would help with the visibility aspect...

Hmmmm. Well, I had the Micro-Mark system and tweaked it for better performance and safety. This came about when I was doing the GE 70-tonner kit.

Good news, I actually could make parts. Bad news, I couldn't make them at any particular rapid pace, it's just too small. I ended up finding a commercial photoetcher to do them for me.

So after proving I could do it, I'm no longer interested in pursuing it. If anybody wants an ENTIRE system, with the chemicals, materials, etc., and also a custom-built ventilation/lighting/containment system (using hinged plastic containers and a bathroom vent rigged to a dryer hose), and a custom-designed propeller stirring system that cut the elapsed etching time down by about half... give me a holler here on PM or email. I'll take photos of my mods and you can see if it fits your bill.

Unlike some whiz-bang Micro-Mark ideas, this actually does work... if you want to take pretty much all day to make four small sheets of results from beginning to end. I was very concerned about both spillage and fumes and solved those problems with my containment system.

Oh, I set up yellow bug lights in my shop and it worked just fine. No light contamination issues I could detect. Biggest problem I had was that when I was working in the 'dark' in my basement, it effectively shut down the laundry room next door, which made my better half VERY unhappy to have to effectively work in a darkroom lit with yellow buglites.
