Greetings All, I'm looking for a photo, ANY photo, of an Inland Steel coal hopper taken sometime during the late 1970's - early to mid 1980's. As I recall the L&N/Family Lines System used to run unit trains from around the Cayuga Indiana area up through Danville and Woodland Jct to deliver coal to Inland Steel. I remember what the diamond-shaped logo looks like but I cannot remember what the lettering looks like or where it was placed. Any and all help appreciated! I've been scouring the web for months using a myriad of searches to try and find something, but so far no luck. Any railfans from Eastern Illinois/Western Indiana happen to have an old photo of these?? Thanks in advance! Mike C Phoenix
Did a search for INLX and Rail - came up with a few hits. Does this look right? artwork was extrapolated from this photo: rrpicturearchives.net Looks like the lettering wasn't anything fancy - perhaps an Arial variant? Hope the photo helps! Regards, -Mike
Woohoo! That's the one!! The hoppers are the 100-ton 12 panel quads but that's the logo and lettering I needed! Thanks guys!!! Mike C Phoenix
