    Hi
I tried to do what oi listed below, the resolution was take loco off track, reseat connectors and try again......
So I'm changing my question. Can I run 2 MTH locos on separate tracks off a single MTH 1000 xformer? If so how? I have 1 each PS1, PS2 and loco sound. I have no problem lowering the sound all the way on 1 loco and forgoing any functions besides forward stop reverse.

We really stepped up our christmas layout this year. 4 O Scale lines, a trolley and 2 n scale. I think I might have really messed up.

I am running MTH I had a Proto2 Steamer in track 1 and a Loco Sound steamer on track 2.
    I needed an extra transformer.
I ran a wire from the pos hookup on track 1 to ther pos hookup on track 2. Same for neg.

The Proto 2 survived (I think so far)

The Loco Sound will start normally (appropriate speed and sound) then burst into high speed with no sound, then slow down and repeat this cycle..

I'm gonna google this, but I gotta fix it.

    Thanks

Thanks - thats great info! I started poking around and found a brilliant solution for my wiring. We only set up for christmas (late Nov - early Jan, but it's about 90 - 100 sq ft. My main line is 56 ft long. Its a christmas scene so the floor is covered in white. If I just run white lamp wiring to my 2 far points, I'll be in great shape, as long as DCS isn't going to need a different setup (thats the next step I want to take). There was a ton of other stuff, but that was a great start.
