I switched to mainly using Tru Color as well and haven't looked back. In my opinion it's a much better paint than Poly Scale. I only have started using Tamiya paints as well for when Tru Color doesn't have quite the color I need.

TruColor is pre-thinned to a consistency for airbrush use, although they do make a brush application version as well, I find an airbrush faster, easier and more consistent in my case. You are right about the solvent base which makes it easier in my shop. If I have to brush paint anything and that is getting more and more rare, Tamiya Acrylics get the use as they just perform better than Model Master or the old PS.
