Late in the afternoon, this is one of my favorite (as well as many other railfan/foamers)spots to hang out at, at Walong. It has a little bit of shade from an old tree that juts out of a large boulder. Anyway...ATSF 8116 chugs up grade at Walong (The loop itself) heading eastbound circa 1984.
One of mine too My dad and I drove to Tehachapi for a weekend and I remember spending many hours sitting in lawn chairs on top of that little hill.
It's a great spot although I like the rock outcropping on the trail up above the loop too. A little shade and a good view of stuff coming westbound as well as great shots of the loop.
I agree. This is a terrible, old scan of a 3X5 print which is going to send me to the neg file to try to find it. 1996, and a couple of DRGW units on the point.
