Thank You Dale, for your compliments on my layout on frisco.org. Did you see my layout drawing? If not, I can show you a copy next time I see you.

I have two more photos that would not load in my previous post because the website has a limit of ten photos per post.

    Michael,

I’ve seen what you and the guys have done, I’m not even close buddy! But thank you very much!
I’ve got 2 places I want to visit if I even get remotely close, RGW and Grand Junction. It would be awesome to operate on those!

    Thanks,
    Dale

Dale, Please start a thread about your layout on the Frisco website. I think it would go over well because the Port of Catoosa Railroad interchanged with the Frisco in Catoosa and Santa Fe in Owasso.

    You would be greatly welcomed!!!

I particularly like your grain mills, they are really good looking.

Below is a matrix that I did in March 2002, it shows the type and position of railcars in Owasso's SKOL yard.

Didn't get a chance to attend either the show or the LDOps meeting the local NMRA boys put on this year, as both weekends were work weekends. That, plus to be honest, even though I could have afforded to attend, there wasn't anything I really needed to buy (HORRORS!!!).

I was looking at the pics of your l;ayout, and I have one question about accessibility- can you get around the end of the center peninsula to get from one side to the other, or is it a duckunder?

I like the bracket idea, as I have used shelf brackets and pieces of 1x4 glued to the door for benchwork support- got the brackets at Lowes. Now if I can sweettalk SWMBO to allow me to cut a couple of holes into the closet wall, I could have a semi-hidden staging yard.

And please remind me, what time on Saturday are you guys open, and whereabouts are you located? Turns out I have a free weekend coming up, and I need a sanity break.

    Hi Bob,

Sorry you couldn’t make the events! Maybe next time.

I took the doors and cut them to width I needed. I placed the cut edges to the walls. The outside edges allowed me to screw 1 x 3’s the them to make a base for the fascia to attach to. The doors sit on the brackets and are screwed to the bottoms of the doors.

The pennensula is about 2’ short of the wall forming a passage. Also, With the layout being almost 50” off the floor, you can duck under easily if needed. I also put a hinge-point about 2 feet from the end of the pennensula so I could fold it back if we needed wider access into the attic. The track above it is cut so we just swing the end back. It’s worked pretty good the two times I’ve had to use it.

Holes in the walls, I cut the holes just large enough for the track and train to pass through. I used one of the little vibrating plunge saws to cut square openings. I put long drywall screws in the pieces to cut so I could hold them and keep them falling in the wall cavities.

    Thanks,
    Dale

Had a pleasant surprise tonight. I was on YouTube and came across a video of The Great Train Show Tulsa-2018 by Model Trains Wow. It has a number of clips of my BNSF grain train and my KCS stack train in it. If you watch it, you will see some of the cars my wife has graffitied. I just can’t park them in the kitchen anymore, she tags them when I’m not looking!

Your wife's work is fantastic. Your grain train really looks good and I especially like the consist on the Z train.
