how do i get started in o scale what brands are good to look at getting i like modern day railroading
so i would like modern locomotives and modern rolling stock what are my options what track system is best as well and can i run 2 rail o scale with dcc the same setup i have for my ho just add on some power boasters for additonal amperage to run the more power hungry o scale stuff thanks alot guys im really new to the o scale stuff have never had o scale but since going to my local hobby shop and seeing there 10x10 o scale layout i fell in love iwth o scale i have a space of 6x16 to use is this large enough for o scale layout as well what is the radii required for o scale both the radii and what is the demistions of the half circles thanks alot guys i know alto of questions to ask but im clueless to o scale thanks alot :)

A couple of names which come immediately into mind are Atlas and Weaver.

What type of layout? Switching? Continuous loop? Point to point?

Great question, How does one get started in two rail O scale. I fell in love with it when MR featured a guy from Texas(I think) that was just fabulous. I think it was called The Southern, and was a somewhat linear out and back with quite a passenger terminal and adjacent yard.
The only problem that kept arising from this kind of dreaming was the need for a 50K warehouse to house it.

That was Lorell Joiner of Texas. His layout was in MR and Great Model Railroads: "The Great Southern Railroad". Unfortunately he passed away suddenly about six or seven years ago.

That was the layout. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I met Lorell at a meet locally many years ago. He looked at the doorstops I was running, asked if I liked that old s....tuff.

He got my address, mailed me a set of Adams and Son's FT A and B castings. I have them still...they friend who was going to power them for me died, I retrieved them...now it's my turn.

2-8-0's for heavy yard work, 0-6-0's for light yard work....2-8-2's for light road work, 4-8-4's or 4-8-2's for heavier road work.
Six foot by 16. In 2-rail 0 with big diesemals.

    Okay..in 2-rail 0, think 60" RADIUS minimum mainline. That's 120" diameter. That's 10 feet.
You'd get half a return in on a six foot wide bench.

    Rethink time.
Wall layout. Get the curves out there.

    Think #6 and bigger switches.
