Actually I did sell prebuilt covered hoppers, many in roadnames that I did not offer in kit form.

I have about 50 more built up cars that I never got around to painting yet. It took too much time, and shut down my own personal modeling efforts for quite a while.

I think it's great that such a skilled modeler can build kits and turn a profit on them. You got to figure he is really only covering his costs and some of his time, yet he is helping provide others, who may not have the skillset or spare time required to build such a kit, with something they could not otherwise enjoy. A ready to run model.

Hmmmmmm I could go for one of those GE lamps versions.

I was thinking I could buy a 3 pack and sell one of them on E-bay since my small layout doesn't really need 3.

Hey Chris, I would be interested in a GE Lamps covered hopper.

I used to work in the energy efficient lighting business, so this is one that I really want.

If you do want to get rid of 2 of the 3, I would split a 3 pack of the kits with you.

I want to get a whole bunch more of these kits from Robert, but I have about 20 things I need to build right now including 9 cars from Robert Ray's (aka Trader Bob's) kits.

There is a GE light bulb plant where I live, it used to be served by the Erie RR now Ohio Central takes sand there.

Here is a shot of it back it the 1950's, if you look at the white silo to the left there are 2 GE covered hoppers going through it up on the unloading trestle. (kind of hard to see, but they are there)

I don't think there is a set with those GE decals, but when I get the layout going and buy a 3 pack I'd be happy to split them with you.

Yes, those are are filled with what are called "Mazda" lamps, no relation to mazda cars and about 50 years ahead of them too.

Mazda lamps are a GE tradmark for small Christmas Tree bulbs. They were carried in those hoppers in bulk, without concern for broken lamps. It was such a bulk item for them that they did not care if a percentage got broken..

I have those decals on hand but did not put them in kits because I already included 3 roadnames worth in the matching carbody style.

Robert thanks I didn't know what they used them for, just thought it was sand. But sand would have been unloaded more to the right on the trestle. At least now I know what that silo is for:

So what did the paintscheme you need look like Chris? I would like to build a couple more GE Lamps schemes for my collection, and since I have some cars built ready for paint and decals, I only have to make the decals.

I can do the scheme like on your N Scale car above, or others if someone has photos?

It would be cool to add the GE Lamps scheme above with the one I did, and the Mazda Lamps scheme. I might be tempted to make up a 3 pack kits with those schemes and additional numbers to reflect the data Chris posted.

Really I'd be happy with the one you did, but one like my N scale car would be cool too! Here is one photo I found:
    http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=73947
I can take some close ups of my N scale car if you like or maybe try scanning it.

If you could get one with a number from the Niles OH plant well that would be the icing on my cake.

But you know what, that Boraxo car you did is looking pretty spiffy as well :D

Now if you really wanna go all out:
