    I have twice received a "personal message" from someone identified
    as "Stephanie2" stating "Hi, I'm new here. How's it going," then going
    on to say something about Buddhism. Her message carries the new
    trainboard forum icon but she is not listed. What's happening here?

    The joy of the internet spammers finding a loophole into the system to spam us with their garbage. I simply delete the message and move on.
