Howdy y'all - I have a HO-scale, standard gauge, Bachman 0-6-0 tank switcher painted/undec., and have thus far been unable to discern which (if any) prototype this model represents. Not being a steam head here, I'm hoping someone out there can assist me. The size and general layout of the model somewhat recalls the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal tank switchers, but the Bachmann model has a long cab and represents a coal-fired unit. Thanks for any info!
I did a search for bachmann 0-6-0t and here is one item I found. 0-6-0T built by Alco for the M.A. Hanna & Co. in 1910 Do not know if that is accurate. No doubt lettered for different roads, a standard model railroad manufacturers procedure. Rich
I don't know if it has a specific prototype per-se, or was just something thrown together by Bachmann (or a predecessor company they acquired). Mayhapse it's based on a USRA (United States Railroad Administration) prototype? There were thousands of derevations on their designs built for railroads all over the country. It's possible the Bachmann "dockside" could be one such locomotive.
Bachmann 0-6-0t prototype The exact prototype can be found as plan # 9 in the Kalmbach Cyclopedia #1 - Steam Locomotives. It was built by ALCO in 1910 for the Leetonia & Cherry Valley Railroad in Ohio. Andre
