Check out this set of 6 M-T 89' flatcars with gas pipe loads for only $695.00 ------- WHEW ======== http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1733227738 ======== eNjoy
Don, the scarey part is some idiot will probly buy them. I wonder if they have Lo-Pro wheels so you can run them on ATLAS code 55 track.
And I thot he was smokin' the crack pipe when I saw the 60' bulkhead flats with the same loads, and a BIN prce of over 100$!!! Yikes.
Holy shamoly....$695 US is $1118 in Canadian funds. That has to be a typo! I'm going to watch this auction closely to see if anyone actually pays that price, because I know where there's a bridge they can buy from me to run them across.
You'll note that someone was willing to pay $270 plus for them! eBay is the ultimate expression of "It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it"! Not to say that I haven't gone a lottle hog wild on stuff before, but still, I'll agree that is a bit excessive.
This goes to show some people have more money than sense. Well I've got to go to the store and get some straws and thread. Look for my ebay auctions. Dan
Now, Please, remind me one more time..... Why is it that I would entertain the thought of paying anywhere close to that much money for a plastic toy, instead of buying a riding lawn mower I could use?
Forget brass, they should be made of Gold for that price!! They do look well done, but I agree with CATT that they at least better be C55 ready. Humm, I have a "custom" weathered Model Power RSD-15 (Rock Island). Maybe I could list it for $250... [ 21 May 2002, 12:10: Message edited by: Bruce-in-MA ]
For $69.50, yes, but NEVER FOR NO BLEEPING SEVEN HUNDRED BUCKS! I'd like to meet the fool that does pay that price- I've got some oceanfront property just outside Grand Junction to sell to him.
I just noticed the last line of the item description: "Good luck with this one. " Yes, one would need luck to find a willing bank to grant a loan!
That fellow bidding on that is waaaaaaay out their! Hes more then smoking the crack pipe! Ain't no way I'd spend that much for cars! I won't even fork that out in a good loco much less then a few cars! The fellow bidding on it has more money then brains! $270.00 my foot! Guys I hate to bust your bubble but I could replicate those cars in scale to HO and even N scale for probably around $15 to $20 a car! If that! And still make enough off selling them to buy bread and milk to put on the table.
Just took a look at this auction this AM. The bid is up to $305 and there has been three bids albeit two from one person. Of course he does not have to buy as the reserve price has not been met. Well, there's one born every minute isn't there?
Now, the cars are nice...the pipes are well done as are the tie-downs..... But the Buy-it-Now price of six for $695 does make the N Collector set of two GN 89' piggybacks with four trailers at $168 look reasonable..... ouch!
Anybody remember the George Carlin joke that goes " if you nail two things together that have never been nailed together before, some schmuck will buy it from you!!". And you thought it was a joke! Even if you use AC models decorated cars, you wouldn't be spending as much. 2slim (not so 'out-of-control' ebayer)
Well, He seems to have more money than common sense. I can use some extra money for the FT's that are coming soon. Maybe this bidder would like to buy a slightly used New York bridge, or some Arizona swamp property from me? Will give him a very good deal!!! BoxcabE50
