I just got December MR (I get it a few days late for some reason)and read the artical on the Pullman sleepers. It got me interesteed in the possibly of building a troop train. I've even got a Spectrum K4 that doesn't fit my layout but would be great for a troop train. The artical mentioned a couple of different kits for the cars and the unique trucks they rode on. Does anybody know if these kits are readily avaliable. My local hobby store is Hobbytown USA, so my hometown product availiability is limited.

Military history is another of my hobbies, particulary WW II. It would be fun to combine two of my interests. Also, call me sentimental, but it seemed mildly patriotic in the new world we live in.

    Hello JPB,
I too have enjoyed military diaramas but find few who like to incorporate those into their layouts. Take a look at the military section of Walthers big catalog and you will see two really nice ones (1 american, 1 german) both circa 1940's.

<font color="336633">I am going to fit an army base onto my next layout, i'm busy geting info on what I can have on it in my era.

I'm thinking of producing a 68' DODX flatcar but i'm not sure if there is enough intrest to make it worth while.

These were just south of Conway yard September 2000.

Well I'd probably buy a couple, can you get suitable 3 axle trucks for them? How about decals? Loads shouldn't be a problem.

Do you want me to do a quick straw poll through the US modellers I know over here?

StickyMonk, what era are you modeling? I am modeling mid to late steam, so for me that can encompass WWII...and I figure I can throw military loads on anything just as they did when the gov took over the rails. Besides a Sherman was only 1/2 the size of those current Abrahms so they didn't need to be heavier cars, they just needed enough flat space.

What I would really prefer to model for the military section is the German armor in WWII, but the price of European-looking stock and motive power is outragous, and the rest of my layout I want to keep in Western US. The cost of HO military units is also steep...some of those vehicles can cost between $20 - $30...

    <font color="336633">Justin, I model between 1978 and 1985

I noticed there is a lack of WWII era tanks about apart from German and Soviet ones, big gaps as far as i see it is,
    US
    M3/M5 Stuart, M24 Chaffe and M26 Pershing.

    UK
Mk III Valentine, A34 Comet I and Mk IV Churchill.

I supose I could do some in cast metal, but its getting accurate drawings thats the prob.
