Now that I've finished my first N-Scale project (see "Diorama" post), I've started a new one. It's a 7 foot shelf point-to-point layout based on the local tourist line called the Pacific Wilderness Railway.

Last year, the PWR started business offering a 20-mile, three hour ride from the Victoria station and back.

    The Victoria, BC, Canada station:

The heavyweight passenger cars are pulled by GP10's:

After leaving the station, you pass through the small maintenance yard:

Part way to the destination, Mile 20, the train passes over the Niagara Canyon. Now, it is spanned by a 529 ft. Cantilever bridge. I'm going with a trestle like the original:

The locomotives reverse on a passing siding at Mile 20 and return to Victoria:

Here is the initial track tack-down on a 7 ft. x 10 in. shelf. The Victoria Station is at the bottom end, over a through-truss bridge, passes the yard, over a trestle, and ends at the top with the Mile 20 passing siding:

I'm planning on a plastic kit station, a laser-cut wood kit single locomotive engine house, and a sratch-built stores building all sitting on Woodland Scenics foam risers. I've got a 2% incline from the yard up to Mile 20.

I'll post some more photos as work progresses...

An interesting project Jerry. Be sure to keep us updated on progress, and if you have any queries, someone here will be able to help. [IMG]

Gerry, nice photos. I took a more distant shot of Victoria station with the standing train about 2 weeks before your visit. Also got a shot of the drawbridge just beyond the station. Sure wish I could have ridden up the line 20 miles .... the weather was "Kodachrome" perfect [IMG]

Thanks for the views, and have loads of fun building the layout, Hank
