A kato double crossing is basically 4 #6s, yet it is controlled by a single Kato controller.

I am using Digitrax DS52s and they suggest that each of the 2 positions should only control a single turnout. Can one of the positions control the XO or am I risking capacitor meltdown?

Does anyone have experience with using stationary decoders with the 4-for-1 Kato crossovers?

    Arrow:

I use the Lenz system. Lenz has a module that allows you to hook up four turnouts to each module.(decoder)

I have two Kato double crossovers and each of these is considered one turnout by the Lenz system.

Using the DS52, you can control two Kato double crossovers with the DS52.

If you ever wired a Kato double crossover to one of the Kato turnout controllers. it would control all four turnouts of the double crossover.

The same thing happens with the DS52, as power to the double crossover is momentary when that turnout number is called up by your handheld or throttle of the command station.

If you use the BCD (BiPolar Capacitor-Discharge) circuit, an ordinary stationary decoder would operate any UniTrack turnout including the double crossover.
Momentary contacts are not needed with this circuit and current requirements are minimal.

If You're using DCC, the control for the decoder is the handheld or control unit of your command station.

I control all my Unitrack turnouts with the LH100 handheld of the Lenz 100 command station.
