    Hey guys,
I've been tracking SP 4449 since it departed Portland and I noticed every so often that the recorded speed was 0 MPH. Now here's my question. When SP 4449 is out on the main is she a high priority train or do freights have priority over her? Or is the recorded speed of 0 just for water stops, etc.?
    Thanks!
    Chris

I don't know for sure, but I believe she's going to have pretty low priority, so the stops are most likely waiting for freight to clear.

Can you share the link to track 4449?

I bet she spends a lot of time waiting on sidings. Also, the GPS may not be broadcasting all the time so that may come up at some calculations as being 0 mph if the thing calculating the speed is simply running a calculation based on GPS coordinates.

Thanks for the responses guys! The GPS can be found at http://www.sp4449.com
If you scroll down to about mid-page you will find a link to the GPS. Unfortunately it is shut off now as they are spending the night in Spokane. It should be up tomorrow when they depart.
    Thanks,
    Chris

The train is being ran as an Amtrak move, the same as the Empire Builder thru this territory. The only thing I can think of is fuel stops at odd places for oil, water, and occasionally a rail detector goes off due to the heat from the firebox!!

Her speeds seem to be well below that of an Amtrak through this area. They have run her through a siding or two for meets. There are indeed servicing stops.
