Got a few more to add: "Ain't No Train to Memphis", by BR5-49 "Train, Train", by Blacksnake (you have to be into Southern rock to have heard this band) (I know I'm gonna catch heck for this, but oh well ) "Crazy Train", by Ozzy Osbourne (please, no flames- I do like me some Ozzy every now & then) I think I've heard Willie Nelson sing that "I've Been to Georgia" somewhere along the line: "I've been to Georgia on a fast train, I wasn't born no yesterday. I've got a good Christian raisin' And an eighth-grade education, Ain't no call for y'all to be a-treatin' me this-a-way."
Here's a few more: "Night Train", by Steve Winwood "Train Kept A-Rollin' ", by Aerosmith "Hey Porter", "Blue Train", "Folsom Prison Blues", and "Train of Love", by Johnny Cash "Glory Train", by Cissy Houston "Love Train", by the O-Jays "Train Medley", by Boxcar Willie (matter of fact, most RR songs done by Boxcar Willie!) "Railroad Lady", by Jerry Jeff Walker
Popped a CD into the player today. Then remembered there was a song on it: "Downbound Train" Bruce Springsteen. Boxcab E50

I think you mean Blackfoot - not to be confused with Whitesnake. Haha Charlie </font>[/QUOTE]Yep, you're right- my bad. Leave it to a DJ to have the right answer. Thanks. BTW, first time I ever heard this song I was chasing KCS trains in eastern Oklahoma south of Heavener, and I popped in the cassette with this band. I cranked 'er up & let it blast out the speakers as I rolled down US 59 on my way to Page to catch a meet.
Can I barge in? How about "Long Black Train" by Josh Turner. It's new this year and a great old timey song. Josh is from South Carolina and has a great voice. Check it out!
Absolutely barge in! My wife has that album but I haven't bothered listening to it. Now I have a reason to! Happy railroading! Russ
What about "Twin Silver Line" by Bob Seeger? I see that this was already mentioned on page one. I should read the whole thread before posting. But there is "My baby wrote me a letter" with the lyric: "Ain't got time to take a fast train, lonely days are gone, my baby wrote me a letter." [ 28. To add to the fray... Michelle Shocked's second album Short, Sharp, Shocked feature three rail-related songs - The L&N Don't Stop Here Anymore, Hello Hopeville, and If Love was a Train. Rainy Night in Georgia has the lines 'A distant moanin' of a train seems to play a sad refrain to the night' and 'I find me a place in a box car, so I take my guitar to pass some time'. The cover by Conway Twitty and Sam Moore from Country, Rhythm and Blue is well worth a listen. Shawn Colvin's 'Witchita Skyline' off the album A Few Small Repairs features a distant horn at track's end.
Train In Vain - The Clash Take the 'A' Train - Duke Ellington Longest Train I Ever Saw - Joan Baez Freight Train - Joan Baez Train Ride In G - Mason Williams Then there was the group Grand Funk Railroad
Remember when they first came along? They were using "Grand Trunk Railroad." Got in trouble for it. So changed "Trunk" to "Funk." Boxcab E50
Me neither. Their first 2 or 3 hits were "Grand Funk Railroad" subsequent titles were labled "Grand Funk". Charlie
Josh Turners "Long Black Train" is an outstanding counrty piece. My personal favorite is "Traneing In" by John Coltrane..........a natural for any sax player like me.
