I am interested in an excursion on a train for sightseeing purposes. Is this the proper forum in which to gather information?
Welcome to TrainBoard! Can you tell us a little more about what it is you wish to sight-see? Would you be interested in going Amtrak, or more interested in a trip back into time on a steam-powered or first generation diesel excursion trip? There are many many choices, ranging from a trip all the way across Canada through some gorgeous scenery to a 20 minute tour around a theme park.
Hi HFR3929 Just concurring with Fitz. Some sources you can use also is to call AMTRAK (1 800 USA-RAIL) and ask for their vacation department and request an AMTRAK VACATIONS brochure. You can also purchase a copy of "TRAINS" magazine. In any issue you can find any number of ads for tourist,dinner,excursion trains as well as operating and static display museums. Good hunting and let us know! P.S. Wife and I have taken a couple of Amtrak vacations. We were quite happy with both. The one we took in 99 had a problem on the way back but not with the train.
