    Nice photos, Bill. That old SD9 is gorgeous in its near-original SP scheme, and I like the angle of your photo of those yellow-bonnets.

    Had the same thought, that's certainly an unusual detail. And the extended/arrestor equipped(?) exhausts as well.

    Don't want to start no wild fires and you got to keep those pesky foamers from ripping off your horns. There is a story (urban legend?) about some nut case trying to remove a whistle off of a live steam locomotive simmering in a yard unattended between excursions. Assuming this is a true story, they should have just let him get it all the way off and let him get a good blast of live steam in the face. I suppose the sudden release of all the steam in the boiler may have damaged the locomotive?
