I was peeking at this site on my lunch break today. I am so impressed with the selection of pictures here: http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/pix.html
I have a weakness for Swiss, Italian, and French trains. The more I look, the more my taste is expanding. I sort of like the Dutch logo now as well.
Geeky, are you aware of the webcam mounted in the cab of Swiss electric loco SBB Re460? The image is updated every 30 minutes 24/7.
I remember this site when looking up symbols related to photos I took in Europe nearly a year ago. http://www.railimages.com/gallery/Europe
OMG that stuff is awesome!!! BTW I have one of these by Jouef in HO scale. http://www.trainweb.org/alanseurogallery/3489b.html I bookmarked the swiss engine but right now it's got it's camera end facing a train car. Darren are those your pics? I think this one is Amsterdam station. Very nice clean station despite the pick pockets. http://www.railimages.com/albums/Europe/afr.jpg I like all the odd shaped container cars they use in europe too. http://www.railimages.com/albums/Europe/acm.jpg Switzerland is just too cute. I really like that swiss red engine color. http://www.railimages.com/gallery/Europe/aap?full=1 Alan I was looking at your photo album and I noticed a small french switcher that looks just like the ones used by FS in Italy. Are there engine manufacturers that sell to all the national railways? Because Italian railways have some pretty standard engines that they only use just as the french railways have some real signature pieces that they only use. http://www.trainweb.org/alanseurogallery/2943.html http://www.trainweb.org/alanseurogallery/3790.html http://www.trainweb.org/alanseurogallery/3233.html http://www.trainweb.org/alanseurogallery/A012.html the cab stack is the real spotting feature on these and Ive seen many different models of this line of switcher. I really like the shots of Portugal. It makes me want to go to portugal. Come to think of it, I get a craving to go anywhere near a sea. Here in Denver we are completely land locked and I haven't seen a sea since 2001 when I went to Ireland and got to ride a train south out of Dublin and go to Britta bay.
