Big night tonight, full crew, new additions and lots of work. We welcomed new crewmember Mark Ditty. Mark is a HO intermodal aficionado. He recently lost his layout to a move and had been advised by the boss to clear out the garage. He asked if we were into intermodal and the answer was a resounding yes. Our Stacy Yard is the perfect landing spot for Mark's equipment. He immediately took to the yard and we agreed he could make it his own. Here are just some of the shots of him and his ideas. Mark mulling ideas to hide the support: The auto rack area: And a gazillion containers and trailers: This just scratched the surface. He is talking about truck turn arounds, vehicle over passes and yard towers. Meanwhile, Wain and Bob continued to hit the lumber tracks with brite boys and dental tools. By evening end, tracks were oh so smooth. Doug added more roads at the east end of Renton Yard: And Ed and Ken added more LED strings and fabricated the new home for our second 300W transformer. What a night. Time to call it a day, first shift as volunteer at the US OPEN tomorrow at 11. Gotta get some sleep. Thanks for checking in. M
Those guys could probably start a business doing that task. I have known plenty of people who could use their help! It is where I believe I have heard, a beautiful setting! And railroad tracks close by....
Yep, Chambers Bay, in University Place, WA. BNSF has its Executive Business Train parked just out of TV camera range. No locos, but all the beautiful cars. http://www.chambersbaygolf.com/
I haven't seen one of these things in action since I moved from Wyoming in the 60s. That slash burner is a great addition. Now is it me, or does this thing look like a beat-all-to-hell-and-gone Dalek? ;P
Funny. A local radio DJ was just talking about this course. He's apparently been there. Said there was one tree on the whole site. Sounded as though he'd managed to hit it.
Great week all things equal, really tired after 4 shifts in the merchandise tent. Each shift 4.5 hrs of non-stop transactions.
I sure enjoyed the views they showed of the Sound, islands, trains. Those were a nice variation from the usual coverage. Maybe there will be another TV broadcast from there some day...
Not unless they fix sight lines for fans and the greens for the players. We heard a ton of complaints about the poor viewing for fans
