Today's train 15R southbound at Ridgeway, SC. This is a morning light shot requiring a southbound, but the morning train is a northbound. After a wait of many months, things finally fell into place this morning with an early 15R.
Somebody got artistic... On the bright side, this is the perfect excuse if some added model radiator fans don't line up after the glue sets - show any critic that photo! There's a prototype for that!
My guess would be that it's being sold or the lease is up and it's being set for return to the leasing company.
Anyone else get aurora shots last night? That show was out of control!!! Lonetree, ND and Amtrak 8: I liked the sinister red look of the Superliner taillights illuminating the elevator:
That is a really attractive paint scheme. I wish other companies could be so bold as to invest a few dollars in appearance. Far too many ratty, cheapo jobs out there, as they all try to squeeze pennies to death to please the stockholders.
I am curious as to the heritage for this unit. I wonder if at some time it has been upgraded. MRL had many SD45 engines, which were reworked to SD45-2 and better.
Wow!!! Red is a lot rarer than the usual green hues. It means the show was particularly energetic. It also bollixed up short wave and AM band radio propagation big time last night...
I agree. The unit is leaving FWWR. It just needs an AAR marking for the new owner, and it will be ready to go.
From an overcast 09/18/1989 at Brunswick, MD on the B&O main. That's WB Tower, which closed in 2011 and was moved last year to a nearby spot for preservation. The telegraph call WB was a legacy of it being one of two towers there, at West Brunswick and East Brunswick, with the latter closed long ago. The roundhouse was demolished in the mid 1990s.
