Hi - I grew up with O scale, and then didn’t do much after adolescence or many years. In 1993 or so, I played some an N scale for a couple of years, but work/child responsibilities took me down other routes.

I am retired now, and a starting to design a layout. I really like LRVs, and a light bulb on in my head when I realized that most LRV prototypes I have seen are double ended and often symmetrical - and at the end of the line, they simple reverse direction - often moving to a different track.

That was important to me because I do not have a lot of dedicated space for a model railroad - my ideal is a number of 2’ x 4’ modules. I realized that I could model an LRV line without any kind of loop - which makes modeling in HO - or even larger scales - on a 2’ deep modules very possible.

I had pipe dreamed over the years about a modular trolley layout - because they can handle very tight curves - but I have never been a huge nostalgia buff - in model railroads or in life.

I have pre-ordered a Piko NTCD Sprinter, and I am working on designing my first two modules - both “end” modules.

One will be last stop in a line that terminates in a “Park N Ride” suburban parking deck.

The other end of that line will be a a stop at an airport.

I have found a DCC “shuttle” module that I will use - initially - to run the LRV back and forth between the stations, and an Azatrax module that will simulate “spring” switch so that the train will also always switch tracks when reversing.

I expect to add modules as time progresses - a downtown station, the LRV running on the median of an Interstate highway, etc.

    Still in the design phase.

Hi Michael, welcome. Glad to have you aboard. I like your concept completing both ends, then adding middles as time and money permit.

Welcome -that Sprinter is a good looking train-set. AND, not requiring overhead catenary is an added bonus esp when modelling LRVs.

    Cheers -Mike
