Two C44-9Ws were recently repainted into H3, BNSF 4479 and 4715. 4479 was involved in a wreck in California and shipped south of the border to be rebuilt and repainted. Along with C44-9W 703, there are 3 Dash 9s that I know to be in the new paint scheme. GP60B 332 was repainted in Kansas too. http://www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=63215 http://www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=63394 http://www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=61482
With the Heritage schemes, standard-nose engines get green (H1) or black (H3) trucks. (There are no H2 standard-nose engines.) Widenose engines get silver for all three. Oddly enough, though Santa Fe painted the B's in silver and red to go with widenose units, BNSF paints them to go with standard-nose units. Personally, I prefer the look of the standard-nose versions of H1 and H3.
I've seen SD40-2 repaints that were fresh out of the paint booth and below the walkway, everything was green, fuel tank, trucks, etc! Are these variations, or they just ran out a' black?
Variations.... got pics or numbers? BNSF stated in a press release on H3 that it was black. GE and EMD paint them black...
Sorry, no pics. It was the loco's that were originally Canadian National units that BNSF purchased and painted H1. I saw a bunch around the Seattle area when they came out a couple years ago.
