Ahs anyone ever contacted Red Caboose about replacement hopper discharge gates for their 4740/4750 PS2-CD hoppers? The PS2-CD hoppers are close relations to the old Precision Masters hoppers but have the gates added. I have quite a few of the PM hoppers and was looking at upgrading with the gates at reasonable cost (ie, not using Sunrise Enterprises parts). Are these available separately? BTW, Intermountain used to sell their sprues at 50c a pop so you could get hold of their discharge gates with a few extra parts in the bargain. Not sure of they still do, though. Thanks!
Yes I ordered them directly from my LHS as they are a part number in Red Caboose's catalog. Came within a week to outfit my old PM hoppers with these gates as well. I haven't been able to locate etched roofwalks for the cars and was told that none exist. Does anyone know if anyone has manufacturered these in the past?
Thanks Tman! Any problems retrofitting them? I'm imagining they are a glue on proposition. As for the etched roofwalks, I thought Gold Medal Models or Plano did them at some point. Mind, I do have a CorelDraw file for the roofwalk replacement....
They are available from RC. I have gotten a bunch of them to finish a small fleet of old PM DRGW cars that came in an estate. We're going to finish them out with GATRWORKS FREDs and MTL trucks. We hopefully will have them for a show soon.
