Has anyone tried to regear Bachmann locomotives? I'm thinkng of possibly using an Atlas or Kato geared truck assembly. Has anyone tried this or any other method?

Don't waste your time...Just put a little work into the Bachmann drive and it will be fine, as long as we're talking about the Plus or Spectrum Drives. I will tell you I never had a bad C/CW40-8, but the Spectrum SD40-2 they did was a piece of junk. Go figure.... [IMG]

I agree with Maxwell. Why bother trying to mess with Bachmann. You most likely can do it but how much will it cost in your time and money towards the end result. Some of the
spectrum units run well, but most of your early models, steam and diesel, don't run worth a hoot and never will. You can try to regear them but after you do they might still not run any better.
