I recently got transfered to a new location with my company. It was a good thing as it allows me to spread my wings and grow within the company. It also allows me to get my daily train fix as the Renton Rocket goes right past my work. Well yesterday the Rocket came by with 4 737 fuselages in the consist. How many plane fuselages does it normally have? I think the most I have seen so far is 2. I have seen some pretty sizeable trains go by considering this is such a short branch line now. Does anyone on here know alot about the Rocket?
I can only imagine what some of the city folks think when they see a train with 737 fuselages on it going down the street in Renton. I have seen several well cars with Rabanco trash cans on them. I am wondering where they are loaded at? I am thinking somewhere down by Black River Jct. It is cool though that I get my daily train fix while at work. LOL
I haven't worked the Renton Rocket since before they severed the Woodinville sub and we worked all the way to Maltby. The garbage transfer facility is a little north of Black River on Monster Road. Aside from the garbage and Boeing I don't know what other traffic they get. There are a few warehouses west of downtown that used to get rail service. Greg Amer The Industrial Lead gregamer.com
I keep missing it as it goes through Spokane...a few weeks ago I saw the empties heading east...yet to see any of them as loads.
There are some very interresting pictures here and there on websites such as Railpictures and rrpicturearchives, showing trains loaded with 737 fuselages and running on wood trestles.... Very amazing as "time compression" pictures! Dom
I think the Renton Rocket is a M-F train. I am not sure about weekends but it seems to me that it comes by every workday.
Can you estimate time of day? Would like to catch it at black river sometime. Thx Visitors welcome on the RGW www.rgwrail.com
I dont have an exact time as it varies from day to day. Usually it comes past my office around 11-12 and heads back to Black River around 2-3 in the afternoon. Ryan
