This is a replica of the wood-burning John Molson, one of the first steam locomotives to run in Canada, part of the collection of the Canadian Railway Museum in St-Constant, Quebec. This one was built by, believe it or not, Kawasaki! They take it out and operate it several times a year. It's hot as Hades within ten feet of the boiler, smells like a campfire, and regularly belches out prodigious quantities of steam. And it's a lot of fun to watch. The CP diesel in the background of the third photo is a big MLW M-630.
Neat little Teakettle. The driving wheel appears large so I assume it can achieve a fairly respectable speed, perhaps 15 mph? But the crank connection is very close to the axle, making for low power production. How many wagons can it pull on the flat?
