hey guy i recently bough an RF&P 50' boxcar former Railbox number RF&P 2068... anyone have any idea what the road number series for a CSXT patch would be? it doesnt have to be the exact roadnumber for this car just for the same type... a former RF&P railbox thanks
Why do you believe that this car was a Railbox car at one time? Why do you believe that this car was a Railbox car at one time? I ask this because I don't think that the RF&P would have done a total repaint. Gary
According to Dave Casdorph's Freight Cars Journal Monograph #12, "RBOX Freight Car Roster and Pictorial", copyright 1990, page 45, RFP got three series of cars from RBOX, retaining the RBOX number: RFP 13262+13399 (131 cars), RFP 16918+17052 (133 cars) and RFP 19220+19446 (222 cars). That would indicate that the model of RFP 2068 did not have a previous life as an RBOX car. I don't have a conversion chart for RFP to CSXT numbers. In Freight Cars Journal #22, Spring 1987, Eric Neubauer has a roster of RFP cars. On page 6, note 4 about boxcars in the series RFP 2000-2099, he reports that these cars have "external post welded sides with waffled panels and centered YSD corrugated sliding door. 5/5 PS design non-terminating ends. Peaked roof. Cushioned frame." The series was built in 10-77 at Berwick Forge & Fabricating at Berwick and was 50-6 IL and 5067 CuFt. Hope this helps. Here's a link to a photo of RFP 2054 in the same series: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1064084
i have no idea why i thought that at any rate i want to patch it at some point but have no idea what number it would be im guessing its an ACF boxcar
I think a lot of times these cars are referred to or even marketed as "Railbox" type cars. I guess since Railbox had the best known version of them.
