While fooling around with Google maps I came across some kind of railroad facility I couldn't identify. Switching to hybrid or map gave no help either, the entire area was grey (well except for the black helicopters). Here are the dirrections

    Google St.Lazare, Quebec.
move south between Road 340 and the intersection of highway 20 and chemin St.-Therese.

You have a line that branches into 3 very widely spaced parallel tracks which then reconverge and then you have 2 branches (dead ends) on either side that look like a drawing of a pine tree. on each of the parallel branches and pinetree sidings are large white buildings extremely widely spaced (in some areas the land between the building is plowed). There are roads to access the buildings (one has a truck sticking out) but the access has to cross the siding directly in front of the building, awkwardly they don't seem to be accessible from both sides like a normal transfer building.

There seems to be only one access road in the entire complex. It passes through a small complex of buildings.

There is alot of rialroad activity here. many cars in numerous cuts.

    any guesses ???

It sounds like a Military Ammo Storage facility.
Munitions would arrive by rail or truck, for storage.
Probably for loading or testing by helicopters.

Bell Helicopter Kemtron has several sights where live ammo is used to "sight-in" various weapons.

It would not be wise to try rail fanning around there.

Zooming in with Google Earth, it looks as though there are numerous tank cars present. There also seem to be covered hoppers in the northwestern part of the complex, It does look strange.

Er. This is Canada. We don't have attack helicopters here(that reference was facitious (sp). Heck we don't even have a real army here.

It could be a plant for making explosives for the mining industry. It seems the facility is dangerous because of the layout.

I guess you could drive out there with your camera and ask one of the gate guards if you could take some photos so you could make a model of it for your layout.

When you get out, be sure to post the photos so we can all know what you found out. [IMG]

Could you post the URL to the location instead of providing directions next time? It took me a while to find the spot. Thanks.
