Good thread. The only 2 that I know of and have seen are the Long Island Live Steamers: http://www.trainweb.org/lils/ And the Reading Society of Model Engineers: http://www.rsme.org/ Russ
You are quite welcome Steve. I know that there are groups elsewhere but those are two that I have actually been to that were pretty big. If you are like myself too, you always look for ride on trains at amusement parks. Here is a site that I came across a while back that is dedicated to amusement park trains: http://www.trainweb.org/parktrains/index.html Thanks to this site, I now take pics of the park trains wherever I go! Happy Railroading! Russ
In Houston there is one I keep wanting to go check out... http://www.hals.org/ One of these days I'll get out there.
There is a large scale, live steam railroad club located in Largo Florida, they have a large park with 1.2 miles of track, tunnels and quite a few structures, and on weekends they give rides to the public. link to the site is www.lcrailroad.com It's a great place to spend a morning Bee Line Florida [ 16. Darn! Bee Line beat me to it... Hmmm... Hey Bee Line... You happen to haunt the Sun Coast Model Railroad Club? We might know each other.
Hi Sir_Prize No I am not a member of the Sun Coast MRC, but we may have met if you go to the train shows at H&R Trains in Pinellas Park. Bee Line
Haven't had a chance to. We DO have a show and swap meet next weekend. On topic: Often there are fellows that have the large gauge live steam. The guys with the ride-on ones bring pictures. They tend to be a little on the heavy side.
A few years ago my wife and I drove to Oklahoma to visit our daughter and family. They took us to some place outside of Oklahoma City to a railroad club and we got to ride a miniture train driven by our son in law. It was quite an expierence. I believe the eng was a SD 7
