Howdy all!! I put the foam down this weekend. I only had one box of cork. But I am looking for bulk cork. I need sheets, 13 1/2" wide, 19 1/2" wide. I see that midwest products makes sheet product, but do all sizes come in the n scale thickness of 1/8"?.

Another question I have is... What do ya'll prefer in paralell track spacing. I thought about 1 1/4". I even used the spacing on the curves, while toying around with drawing center lines, I used 18" as the min radius. I have a center island that will be using 21" and 19" radius.

I never used foam before, I like the way you can use T-pins for temporary layout placement of of the cork and the track. I was going to use carpenters glue to fasten the cork to the foam, then use a latex adhesive caulk to fasten the track to the roadbed. Another idea I had was to paint everything at one time. Meaning, fasten cork to foam , sand the cork, then paint the cork and the foam the sand " ground " color I have.

So in all, what do ya'll think of my thought process? Any help would be appriciated. I will be tearing up all old track and laying cork to obtain the proper ballast profile. adios fer now wyatt

Wyatt, that is how I do it - carpenters glue for the cork to foam and caulk for track to cork. I am actually using HO cork on the mainline, and tapering it down to N scale for sidings and passing tracks with a surform tool and sandpaper.

I was looking in to purchasing some cork sheets myself. Didn't look at Midwest because I figured they would be too expensive for pre-cut cork. Following an MR article I started looking at purchasing cork flooring. If you do a search on the net you can find many suppliers who offer various types with various thicknesses and some are in sheets and others are in rolls. I haven't gone as far to buy any yet.

I have seen it in 1/8" thickness and in rolls to boot.
Cannot recall where, but Home Depot/Lowes or the like should be a good start.

Why bother with all that different types of addhesive? I just use Elmers white glue for it all with no problems

Dick, the caulk seems a lot quieter than glue. YMMV!
