I managed to capture the three GP60s in 2000. Now that I have a scanner, I can pass them on to you. The camera was a Nikon FunTouch2, the exposure was "whatever." Not that great for rivet-counters, but I like 'em.
Very nice & thanks for sharing Steve. I'm trying to fit ditch lights via richmond controls on an N scale DRGW GP60 at this time & your 1st/2nd pic has ditch lights blazing, excellent!
Glad this was helpful and timely! Yeah, I took them on a cloudy day with a point and shoot. Still, they're at the top of my print collection!
Southbound approaching Palmer Lake. Fathers Day, 2004 Think I have a better version elsewhere. Just need to find it!
Added Poll I thought I would add a poll loosely based on the subject. The GP60s were purchased after the SP merger but kept the Grande paint. They straddled the 88 merger. It got me to thinking what era(s) Grande fans like. You can select multiple eras. People may disagree with my parsing the years, but I'm going by memory tonight.
How do you mean Jere?Is there no dcc for the GP60 yet?I'm asking because we are going dcc with the exhibition layout & trying to find out all I can on the subject now........dcc another expense...... Nice pic keith,is that an ac unit on the roof?
No Life-Like unit I am aware of is DCC friendly to take a drop-in decoder... Great poll!!! I voted for steam, all the way to Anscutz. I am a Rollins Pass nut, so that falls in the pre-1920 era. I liked steam on the Grande, and thanks to Otto Perry, I voted for the 1947-fall of steam. I also like the eras with diesels, all the way to Anschutz control. I model 1984-1986 basically, with a few fudged eras to allow PA-1's, the CZ and the GP60's. If some good steam for the Grand comes out, I'll be in trouble, especially an L-132!
DRGW3154 in Dolores Yard, Los Angeles around 1992, or so. Note the added Scotchlite stripes. I think it would be interesting to model one like this.
Yes, that's an a/c unit; they were ordered as wreck replacements, and tacked onto an existing Cotton Belt GP60 order. As a result, they have the options SP/SSW was getting on their GP60s at the time - a/c, P-3 horns, beacons, antenna ground planes, etc.
Not necessarily the grande The transition era is interesting to me regardless of the road name. 1947-1960 New Life, New Diesels and the end of steam
