Apparently the DRGW had 1 NW-2. Any web photos of this unit? Any info on where it was typically assigned?
Don't know about web pics, but there is a pic of it in Jim Ozment's Trackside book at Burnham Yard dated Feb 26 1965. The Rio Grande in Color Vol 1 book has another pic of it at Burnham Yard dated 1967. Referred to as "Burnham's Pampered Pet" so there's a clue. Sold off in 1968.
It was the only DRGW switcher to have a trolley pole fitted because of some of the routes it took (Denver & Intermountain). To activate the x-ing lights etc. Built Jan 1941 & funnily enough,I've gone through all my DRGW site list & can't find a NW-2 DRGW pic! Used mainly in the Denver area all it's 27 years.
Thanks, Rod! I think I can rule one out, unless someone proves me wrong that #100 had never traveled the Tunnel District...
Temptation! I'm trying to not buy one.... I have enough locos, and I need to focus funds on layout construction!
"Burnham's Pampered Pet" It's always been my understanding that the 100 never ventured far from the Denver area. 2slim
