I was writing to see if anyone has had problems with the Rivarossi 4-8-4 in UP 844 markings. This loco does not run when put on the track. Other times it will run for a few minutes and then stop and make the overload light come on. My other Riv. locos work fine on this track. Also the 844 runs ok on another layout. Ja, I acquired a Rivarossi Northern a couple of years agao, second hand, and to date, it has run without any problems at all and not always on top grade track laying. All my other Rivarossi models run as well as the Northern, so I was wondering if you had a Bad 'un.

I would have to ask what you are using for a power supply. The question is what is different between your layout and the others? Are you running code 70 rail with the deep cookie cutter wheel flanges on the Rivarossi amd the other layout is using code 100 rail? Look for the differences. The power supply on the first layout is an Athearn power pack and the second is an MRC Tech 2 w/momentum & brakes. Both layout are temporarily using the Bachmann E-Z track system. 1.8 grade on the first track w/22 degree curves. Second track is a flat layout w/same curves. Jai
