Capt Rex Settlemoir sez: Amazing what you can find when you look around. Don't know the date or origin of this photo, but it is a good shot of the Big 4 depot at Robinson, Illinois (South of Paris on the Cairo Line).
While in this vicinity, amongst my paperwork, I have flimsies from a station named "Owen." I had been told in the past, it was in or near Robinson, Illinois. True? Boxcab E50
I really have no idea. I just checked my maps and I can't find an Owen near Robinson (Which is near Terre Haute). Sorry. Maybe someone else can help.
I live 30 mike north of robinson, I don't remember the station name. It's still there on the east side of Robinson, along IL-36. Here's some photos of it now, http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/37489/ppuser/4309 http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/37488/ppuser/4309 http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/37487/ppuser/4309 It's used as a war musuem and memorial inch
The only clues I can provide, are one from from my 1916 Official Guide showing Owen on the line between Danville and Vincennes. But where is not noted, ad it's a non-passenger station. And, I can scan some paperwork. Boxcab E50
Ken, in a map found in the March 1943 issue of New York Central's "List of Officers and Representatives, Stations and Other Facilities, Owen is just a bit south of Robinson and appears to have been a crossing point (diamonds?) with the Illinois Central.
