I do not model railroads predating 1965, but I always felt I could make exceptions for the Jet Rocket if it should ever be released in N scale. How does one go about badgering a manufacturer to take a look at the possibility of releasing this model?

Those are an awsome image. I'd like one in HO DCC ready

First they'd want to know if there was truly a market for it.

GM's Aerotrain found interest enough to paint trainsets for the CRI&P, NYC, PRR and UP as they were tested, rejected and moved to new routes. Even the Santa Fe tested the concept on its San Diegan route, though I'm uncertain whether the train was painted for the Santa Fe.

So, there we have at least four prototype roadnames to offer and perhaps a Santa Fe and Demonstrator too. Kato produced an odd duck NYC M-497 jet powered RDC, so perhaps an Aerotrain would not be a leap.

Con Cor made N scale versions of the Aerotrain, M-10000 and Zephyr a while ago. All are great runners and hard to find now.[ATTAC P1000693.JPG P1000701.JPG P1000685.JPG H=full]271180[/ATTACH] P1000685.JPG View attachment 271180

What ever happened to style? Now everything is plain boxes.

I am an Industrial Designer(Product Designer), and always wondering about locomotive style and where it went.

The stylish was replaced by the functional and easy to produce. The E's, F's, FP's, C-Liners and PA's of yore were replaced with boxes with one pointy end. The GE Genesis carbodies, like the P42s, started the whole ugly box thing. Even today, they're still basically boxes with a pointy part, though slightly curvier. Most look very much alike (no wonder - most were designed by the same guy  ). Some can be helped in the looks department with a clever paint scheme.

I know of none that can hold a candle up to a PA in Warbonnet livery or an EA in B&O colors.

Same thing happened in Eurpoe, now these are all the same, also the manufacturers are the same.... only the paint job now differientiates them.
