https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54xDOU9pgVs#t=47 Rokuhan video shows operation from both DCC and DC and they say will be on show at Cleveland NTS in the Intermountaiin booth, Rokuhan will be there with the Controller In the video the DCC controller used is the digitrax Zephyr sold by Kato in Japan. regards Garth
Nice design, simple yet full featured. I do wonder if there might be value in also producing a 15 degree curve so that all positions of the turntable can be used with the standard Z scale curve angles? Mark
What is the length of the turntable bridge? I have a Big Boy so it will need to be long enough for that.
The bridge is 163 mm in length so not long enough for the Big Boy or Challenger, not sure about the GS4 regards Garth
currently you could use a length of flex to get your 15 degree curve, but good question, we will have to ask. This would not be needed for a round house but would be needed for yard tracks to parallel one of the 15 degree exits tracks. I suppose it would also allow access to an engine house that was not round.
Garth, The specific case I was thinking of was a case of parallel tracks for an engine house, ash pit, coaling and sand branches that one would normally just use turnouts, but a turntable was used instead to also be able to turn the engine around. I don't know if there would be enough interest for a 15 degree piece. Mark
The bright screws are a no-go for an end of production model ! :crying: The turntable needs some corrections ! GreetingZ from Germany, Rolf
Here is some more followup to the news release from Rokuhan 1) We will provide 15 degree covered track but a little later because we have to do a lot of things happening around turntable release. 2) You don't need any additional connection with our turntable because DCC track is connected to turntable although it is in DC control. The DCC command will bcome automatically into our controller. The controller is not controller in this case but indicate the table position. AThe, IC inside the DC controller is controlling the turntable based on the command from DCC controller through track. AC adopter so any additional power source is not required if in DCC. 3) Turntable does not have many features thus just turn right or turn left probably 180 degree return. The initial alignment of turntable is still done by DC controller. 4) Any DCC controller is able to use if they fix CV.
Garth Any news on whether the Rokuhan uncoupler for European style couplers is part of the other things happening around the turntable release. This was originally announced on November 28, 2011 but has never been released. It seems to me that the ability to uncouple the locomotive from the rest of the train is a useful adjunct to the Rokuhan turntable, rather than having to do this by hand, which can be awkward with Z scale. There is the R037 uncoupler for American style couplers, but as I am based in the UK all my rolling stock is Marklin. I have asked this question on the Rokuhan website but do not receive a reply and I am hoping that you have better contacts. Rob Pearce (aka Viper Bugloss)
