I just purchased a R078 double crossover. When I connect it to power it only switches the the two turnouts on the side where the electrical wire is. The two on the other side do not react. I was under the impression that all four switched electrically at the same time. The mechanical switches work fine. I have it connected with a capacitor to make sure its not get constant power. Is the switch faulty or is there something else I need to do to connect it?
Hi Chris, welcome to Trainboard. I don't have that track piece so I don't know how it operates, but someone will chime in who knows. Edit: I found this video that shows it operating at the 40 second mark, and all 4 switches go at the same time:
I'll answer my own question. I took the track apart and reseated the solenoid on the side that was not working and everything is fine. So yes, the one connector controls both sides. Interestingly, I can trigger it and run two Shorty trains off a 9v battery.
I had the same issue last week and had to fastened a screw holding one of the copper bar between the two sides. Just saying, for futur readers looking for this.
