I'm trying to make a mold for some detail parts and I can't get the RTV to flow into all of the details. Is there a thinner for two part RTV? What type of solvent is it?

Maybe it has gone bad or your mixing it wrong???

When I pour mine I hold the cup up high so the stream down to the mold is very thin (gets rid of bubbles) I pour into the corner of the mold and it flows up over and around the part. When I'm done I tap it a few times to work out any bubbles.

I've not yet had problems with it flowing. I use the stuff from Micro Mark BTW

I use one of those cheapo $.25 brushes to "paint" the rtv into the details before pouring the whole mould. I also do this with the resin when making copies. It has worked pretty well for me.

Incidently, RTV may last a while while unmixed, but resin wont. You maybe have a week to use your whole supply once opened. This is why I cast in batches.

Thanks Guys! Maybe it's my RTV? Cures out fine,But seems a little thick. It is getting close to the expiration date. :(
I thought there was a thinner that could be added to one part before mixing to make it flow better. Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure that once RTV reaches the end of its shelf life, it's finished. I opened up a jar the other day that had been sitting for a while and, yep, it was finished. Once opened, he shelf life is like that of ACC--non-existent.
