Well, as a N scaler it's kind of strange to admit I own some Lionel postwar stuff too. Lately the N scale layout has gotten to be too much of a chore. I seem to be more inspired by my big old hudson with smoke generator. I am even considering a permanent layout for it. Someone Save me from my O-27 habit!

I steadfastly avoid Lionel and AF. Just one piece of equipment, and I know there'd quickly be more! It's great stuff. And I've wonderful memories from youth, etc.

Nawh, no help from me on keeping you from O27. :D Nothing like smelling the ozone from those old motors pulling 20 car freight on the living room floor. :D

:eek:mg: Listening to the sizzling sounds, as their pickup rollers arc along the center rail. Racing around the figure eight, powered by one of those little box paperweight transformers. Lights out in the room, watching a headlight sweeping back and forth....

    You know boxies...

If you look on ebay, those classic S scale American Flyer trains are pretty cheap. You could be up and rolling in no time flat. Bwuuuaaaa HAAAaaaaaa Haaaaaaaa. (Diabolical laughter)

Don't forget the smoke pellets Greg! Oh yeah and the whistle tender. toot toot!

As for little box power packs, I seem to have the giant box powerpack for mine.

Go for it! And if you do, please post up a movie with sound! Memories! I can almost smell the smoke!

Hmmm. Believe I had one of those AF transformers. Cannot think of it's model #. In my Lionel, I started with a 1033, then had KW, VW, ZW. Used the KW for running accessories.

Trust me, I'm working on doing some O scale. Even if no layout I can always set it up and run when I feel like it.

The N scale layout just got to be such a chore. Weathering track, needing to buy more decoders, more structures needing to be built, etc. I just needed a break.

Thanks for the happy 3000 comment.

Yea I had Lionel and American Flyer as a kid. My O scale P:48 is plenty to deal with. If I were to rubber guage I think I would go to G scale in a garden railroad, I have a cheep set for under the Christmas tree. My better half is supportive of my addiction to the flanged wheel. (Hello, I'm Lee, I am a Alco-hual-lick)...lol... She thinks it's very cool, I am a blessed man.
