    I run DCC.

I had 3 trains running on my layout.
I started noticing that it appeared that 2 of the 3 were periodically slowing down. (seperately, not simultaneously)

Suddenly, 1 of them stopped completely.
Of coarse I had to stop the other 2 to avoid a wreck.
When I tried to restart the stopped loco, I got no response. The other 2 started back up.
I shut the power down & then powered back up.
When I powered back up the loco which had stopped bolted full speed ahead without any throttle.

    Runaway full speed ahead!!

I had to power down to stop it.

When I powered back up again everything seemed fine.
Since that happened, all three trains seem to run & respond OK.
Had never happened before. Has not happened since.

Anybody know what could have caused that?

I have had that happen on a few locos that derailed (my fault). I rerailed them and they took off like bullet trains. I found if I short the tracks (usually with just my watchband)...let the command station reset...and throttle them back up...everything runs fine. It is something in the decoder or command station that reads something wrong and needs to reset itself. Not a problem...just freaks you out is all...lol.

I have heard about similar results as George describes. A brief short, then reset and all is well.

    Hi!

Sometimes it makes sense to deactivate the analogue modus via CV29. The decoder may interprete the signal wrong and switches to analogue.

    Best regards

    Thanks fellas.
Sounds like maybe nothing to be too concerned about.
(as long as I catch it before flies off the layout. LOL)

How many throttles are you using? I know sometimes with using a single throttle and running multiple trains the system will sometimes flip out and lose something.

I was using two throttles at the time.
Two locos on one throttle & one loco on the other.
