    Hello.
I m a beginner, and already made some part of my layout.

This is a first part of 4-part module with opened tunnel board.
    Dimension: 2.40 M X 0.8M (94' X 31' )
    Tunnel part has tunnel catenary
    Minimum R = 12'
    Maximum slope = 2.5 %
Some tracks are already ballasted and painted.

You can see run of remastered Roco BR-150 loco (like russian Che-Es-2) with 4 museum russian passenger cars "Oktjabrj", which were made by Pico at 80's

Looks good so far. I have always been interested in seeing what the modelers on the other side of the iron curtain can do...

    Looking good!
Did I see a Canadian Pacific RS2 there on a siding?

Looks like you're off to a great start! I particularly liked the weathered track/roadbed.

    приятный!

I like the fact that you are modeling the overhead wire, even if it might not be live. It bothers me when I see model electric locomotives and there's no overhead wire.

Keep up the good work! Your'e helping make N scale more popular around the world!

Looking good. Starting with good trackwork is the key to any layout.

Andrew, I think that there are no any Iron Curtain in reality!
This Curtain is drummed into our minds (like zomby-programms) by very little group of people who has very distorted ideas about "possessness".

You and me, and other people would wish to live in peace and would be happy to make happiness to all other! We may join together with this idea, and dont support people who has nonsurvival idea. We must take responsibility and adjust this situation, avoiding established barriers and any pressure, which broadcasted on TV.

As a good example - a good solidarity of International Members of this TrainBoard!
    Thanks to all!

    Vad-

Track looks a lot better than mine does.
I have one question- I noticed that it appears that you have very long tunnels in your plan. Did you plan for a way to access the track inside the tunnels if there is a derailment?

Yes! This modules havent any bottoms and one can put a hand (or even stomatological mirror for better orientation) and take out a train from side windows near track support webbings.

Vadim - Very nice track work. I know you were in search of a train that had a functional pantograph, did you ever find one? (I know Minitrix had one model in the 80's that had one)

As to the reference to the "Iron Curtain" I think as N. Americans we might think that general supplies are had to come by in Russia. I know the internet has made it easier to order things but are local Hobby shops common in Russia and how is the mail system when it comes to ordering supplies? (Just a modeler trying to figure out how things work on the other side of the world)

I do agree the "Iron Curtain" is a very outdated term, but I would guess he's referring to a (perceived) cultural gap between Americans and Russians, which doesn't really exist much anymore, although honestly here in the USA, with the exception of attractive female tennis players, we still aren't exposed to Russian culture as much as we are of the cultures of western European countries.

But for all intents and purposes, the "Iron Curtain" fell down in 1991.

The Roco - BR 150 (German), whish is shown on the video- like Russian Che-Es-2 has dependable and operating metallic pantograph. Also there are some another electric engines. You re right, Minitrix has a lot! For example - E-40. or even ICE1/ICE3 passenger trains. Also we have electrical locos like german BR-101.
I still not yet decided and still choosing between touchable or fully electrical catenary.
Unfortunately there is not a trolley(2 wires), and therefore catenary can dublicate only one rail in case of DCC. Electrical pickup can become dependable only "on a half"! Another problem - Reverse loops. In case of reverse loops we can use only electrically-unworkable (only touchable) catenary, avoiding short circuit.
Another way - to modify loco-decoder's rectifyers - making them as 2-phase(6 diodes). But it is very difficult at N-Scale. Decoders are too small for home modifications.

As to our stores. Most russians like H0 but not N-scale.
We have a lot of russian H0 models in our stores but there are absolutely nothing at N-Scale. We have 6 stores in Moscow.

As to N-scale - i already found out some locos and cars from another countries which looks like russian.
Another way - to use internet. I use German, American and Japan stores to get some models which are not represented in Russian stores.
As to track - i use Atlas Code 55. Because Atlas (as i see) has some crisis now, also i m triing to use MicroEngineering track. Unfortunately, Europe has not so fine tracks.

You re right. This is a historical fact.
As to american affecion, it so small not only in railroading!
For example, I worked 10 years as a DJ at my weekend,(it was my old hobby) and up to nowadays, i can say that only Europian music presented everywhere in Moscow Clubs! American music sounds strange for europian, especially for Russians!
I d got a lot of american domestic vinyl discs, and like it a lot! They are too beautiful, even may be more expressive than europian! Russian people liked it when i played it! They told me that this songs newer been heard but they are very beautiful!
