I have just acquired an OMI 4-8-4. I received it unmarked, except for the nose numbering. So, I am decaling it as #207. Would someone please answer the following: is there a class ID under the cab number----"S-2" ? I have affixed the road tender plates, but what & where are the other markings on the tender----road number, capacities, fire hose, keep off, etc?
    Thank you.

Seems to me there should be a class number under the cab number. And that tenders were rather sparsely marked. I believe water capacity in gallons on the back end. But nothing else.

Will try to dig through a book or two later tonight.

I've gone through what I could find. There should just be the "S2" beneath a road number on the cab.

I couldn't see anything on the tender, aside from the herald, for an S2 coal burner.

On an oil burner, there was just one rear tender view I located. Centered, I'd guess about 12 inches below the top white stripe, "18000 Gallons Water." Immediately below that, 7000 Gallons Oil." No other markings seen.

    Maybe this helps a little?
