The SAMRA show was well attended yesterday. IMHO there were some pretty good deals if you looked. In the average deals, there was a large selection of products. Admittedly, I looked at N scale for the most part.

I didn't get to look much yesterday as my layout was on the tour. I had about 25-30 visitors which is very good for me in N scale. The really great layout here in San Antonio is Joe and Sharon Mainz on San Pedro Ave. Their layout was featured in the Great Model Railroads, 2008 by Kalmbach.

Here are photos from today. More later this week.

H0 scale Corpus Christi Club, Gulf and Western RR. Utah Belt alive and well with a ??new type engine.

G scale Big Boy and friend. That's right G scale!

Here are some pictures of the show. Model pictures first. Attendance is good, but vendors and layouts are off because of the NTS, I am sure. It's a family show in a big mall, so the NTS doesn't really affect the locals.

Here are the pics and what I can remember:

SAMRA H0 scale modular layout. Very nice. It has been stored for a long time. They brought it out because of the lack of club layouts at the show. I'm surprised they had not shown it before as it has some very nice modules.

Joe Cox (Austin, Texas) does some very nice N scale modeling. Notice the traction motors on the GP trucks on the flat car.

Check that logo on the nearest trailer! Joe always has a new idea. Joe advises that thie Richmond Controls logo s is a George Hollwedel decal. I'm trying to create one from the website now.

I learned that the receipts for the show were very low compared to prior years. It was slow today (Sunday) but I thought it was very good yesterday. Official report on that will take a few weeks.

Eddie: Yes, I remember you well and good to see you post. Hope you had a nice time at the show. I have to say that I certainly did enjoy myself although attendance was light. Sure didn't buy much; hope I didn't miss any deals.

Yeah, we did not have as many people at the G scale display neither.
usually that room is always full.
I think all the good vendors went to sell at the the train show in california

I did manage to get myself an engine and a building kit from Brad's Trains.

I am very late in stating that this years SAMRA Summer Show is this weekend, 25-26 July at Crossroads Mall in San Antonio. I will try to get pictures and post them here. In the meantime, we can enjoy the pictures from last year's show.

I don't remember any Z scale. No S scale IIRC. The only O scale was hi-rail. There was a big G scale layout on the floor. I will check for Z scale this year and get a photo of all the scales represented.

Another year and it is time for the San Antonio Model Railroad Association (SAMRA) show again on 31 Jul and 01 Aug, this weekend. Here is a link to a pdf flyer:

I know that we have sold 175 tables to vendors this year. That is a lot more that the winter show when we sold barely over 100 tables. OTOH, the all-time high is over 250 tables, so you never know. Should be a good show. As a club member, I am going to be helping out while I peruse the vendor tables. I hope to do a weathering exhibition of some of the Tom Mann techniques I am using. Jim Hinds of Richmond Controls will be there, I know. I hope to get some N scale caboose lighting kits.

I want to get my grand daughter there to see the G scale and all the exhibits, too. Kids are always welcome.
